Here are some general FAQs:
Are there any special discounts to admission prices?
YES! Get $1.00 OFF Admission with a non-perishable Food Shelf Donation at the door!
Where should I park?
There is a TON of FREE parking! Available parking is well-marked throughout the MN State Fairgrounds. On-street parking fills up fast but there are 2 huge lots practically on top of the Grandstand:
Southwest of the Grandstand, north of the Coliseum (where the Midway usually is at the Fair)
The new Fox Lot, where Heritage Square used to stand (northwest of the Grandstand)
It’s always a good idea to have a back-up parking spot in mind, just in case “Plan A” is full when you arrive. Please refer to this MAP.
Will there be food?
YES! Smokey Joe’s will, once again, provide their outstanding board of fare for Fall ComiCon attendees! Located just outside the Education Building, a few steps west of the main entrance, you’ll have no trouble finding them…just follow your nose! You'll find fresh-grilled goodies, salads, and ice cold drinks! Picnic tables are available for convenient seating outside and we’ll have benches just inside the entrance if the weather turns.
Are there ATMs available?
YES! There will be an ATM machine available at the Main Entrance.
What Should I Bring?
Comfortable Shoes – The concrete floor of the Education Building has lasted for over 100 years…and will certainly outlast your feet and back! There’s so much to see and do at the show, plan to be on your feet for most of day.
Backpack or Bag – We, your faithful ComiCon Crew, deal in trucks, carts, racks, crates, large boxes, and pallets. If we have a plastic bag or two, we’re happy to share them with you but it’s easiest for you to bring your own.
Cash – The dealers and creators that you may be transacting with are as varied and individual as their wares. Some may take checks or credit cards, some not. Some may have elaborate barter systems involving vegetables that resemble famous movie stars, most not. But one thing is certain: EVERYONE likes cash!
Lists – There you are, panning for gold among the long boxes when you happen across a cherry-mint copy of that book! But…didn’t you buy a copy last year? Or was that the issue before? Bring your wanted lists to avoid such anxietous misadventures!
Sketchbook & Pens – “Hey! I didn’t know he/she would be here! AAUUGGHH!!! Why didn’t I bring my sketchbook?” And if you want your book signed with that perfect-tipped, peach marker with chartreuse highlights, you should probably bring that marker with you!
Your Portfolio – Are you an artist? Trying to break into the business or looking to get some good tips from working pros? Bring your stuff! Lots of artists at Fall ComiCon are willing to do portfolio reviews!
Food & Water – Keep the reactor fueled!
Dress in Layers, Bring an Umbrella – It’s May in Minnesota! Will it rain? Maybe. Will it be tropical jungle heat and humidity? Maybe.
Camera – Creators, Cosplayers, Art Show Display, Prop-a-torium, TwinLUG’s LEGO displays…there’s SO much to take pictures of! But, please, be courteous and ask permission before snapping away.
Friends – Don’t keep all the fun to yourself. Remember, when you’re telling your friends how much fun you had, their first question will be, “Why didn’t you call me?” It's always more fun with a group of friends!
